Police Chief - Town of Marshville. Pop. 3,100. Position performs responsible managerial, administrative & supervisory work in directing the activities of the Police Department. Eight full-time sworn personnel. Ability to maintain effective working relationships with other law enforcement agencies and the public. Requires a thorough knowledge of principles & practices of law enforcement administration, community policing & crime prevention. Must have the ability to communicate effectively in writing & orally, to effectively manage subordinate personnel, to develop & manage departmental budget & to deal tactfully & firmly with both the public & elected officials. Community oriented leader. Reports to Town Manager.

Requires an Associate's Degree in criminal justice or related field & experience in managerial & supervisory law enforcement roles, or equivalent combination of education & experience. Bachelor's degree preferred. Minimum of 3 years experience in a supervisory capacity or 2 years as a police chief preferred.
